Trip to Cambridge Botanic Gardens-What you need to know!
For this trip we have decided to use our own cars and provide lifts as required. Although Cambridge has a good park and ride system the Trumpington Park and Ride (CB2 9FT) is the most convenient for the Botanic Gardens. It is approached from the A14 via the M11 south and the A1309. Parking is free as is the fare after 9.30am if you are lucky enough to have reached the magic age of being able to eligible for a bus pass. If not I am afraid the return fare is £3.00! Buses run at 10 minute intervals.
The Botanic Gardens are the third stop on the route in to the city centre. Our guided tour is arranged to start at 10.15am so it would be great is everyone could arrive by 10.00am. The tour will last about 90 minutes after which there are no further activities arranged but it is suggested that we will have our lunch either a picnic brought from home or a meal at the Garden Café. If you would prefer you could break off after the tour and walk to the city centre 15 minutes’ walk away, where ther e are lots of eateries. The rest of the day is free for you to do what you want. The bus back leaves from outside John Lewis in the city centre but also stops opposite the garden entrance on the way back to the car park.
The Orchid Society is paying for the cost of the tour and the entrance so please make sure you allow adequate time to assemble at the Trumpington Road gate by 10.00am.
