Saturday 30th March dawned bright and sunny which set the scene for an extremely successful show. The display our members contributed to was varied and of an extremely high quality. Bill Gardiner’s plants won both the species and hybrid awards! Laurence put on his usual extensive sales table and appeared go home with a much emptier van. Andrew Bannister also sold many of his small plants to the more adventurous. Although the day started slower than normal the numbers attending soon picked up – perhaps due to David’s Q and A session on Radio Suffolk’s gardening show and numbers were maintained throughout the day which provided a real buzz to the atmosphere. The kitchen sold all the lunches that were available and despite what looked like an immense quantity of cakes baked by members, there weren’t many left by the end. The potting demonstrations were well attended and those members around the display were able to answer questions asked by visitors. Carol and Tony manned the tombola and weirdly were left with Laurence’s donated plant remained almost until the last prize which attracted a few more ticket sales!

Thanks must go to all our members who put out signs and posters, provided plants and food, helped set up, manned the door, patrolled the display to answer questions, helped in the potting demonstrations, worked in the kitchen and eating area, worked on the tombola and stood in when anything needed doing. Without all of you our show would not be so enjoyable or successful!
