The expert table was won by a buttercup yellow Potinaria Hwa Yuan Gold grown by Bill Gardiner. This is a division of another plant. Bill grows it as a cattleya but has found it benefits from more light-he grows it under a grow lamp and more heat–it is positioned in a warm “cupboard” in his greenhouse.

The novice section was won by John Beavan’s cymbidium hybrid. This well grown plant was bought from a garden centre a few years ago. It is put in the garden each summer and is bought into the house in late autumn. It tends to flower alternate years.
