It was so wonderful to meet everyone on the 29th September. We had a great turnout to our AGM-late but eventually happened! Thanks to all who came. The main part of the meeting, election of committee members and the filling of positions, happened very quickly thanks to Bill Haldane’s arm twisting.
Bill Gardiner has agreed to take over as Chairperson, Carol Tweed is replacing Jenny and Annie, who have done a sterling job as joint secretaries, and Martin Wilson is the new events secretary. David Kohn will take up the reins of publicity.
The main part of the meeting was renewing acquaintances that had been put on the back burner since March 2020. It felt so good! The plants on the display table were magnificent. There was a huge number of well grown, often unusual specimens, that many members provided. The winner was the Dendrochilum magnum grown by Bill Gardiner who had displayed some of the plants that the Orchid Society of Great Britain had used as part of their orchid display at the Chelsea Flower Show. Andy Gissing brought in a lovely Dendrobium lipidium mounted on bark. Pity about the photo that doesn’t do it justice!
At the meeting the date of our Spring Show was announced. We shall look forward to March 26th 2022.
