This month’s novice table winners were the Tweeds who presented a beautiful, spotted Vanda hybrid which they bought from Laurence a couple of years ago. They tried growing it in a glass vase without success before resorting to planting it in a bark in a pot. They keep it in a bright warm lounge.
The expert table was won by John White who was the overall novice winner last year. Despite only growing orchids for a few years he has acted on information given by successful growers in the club. This example of Prag. Eric Young is only one of his beautifully grown plants. He grows it at the cooler end of the warm house with a minimum temperature of 18oC. Humidity is maintained by regular misting. He uses Rainmix fertilizer 3 times out of 4. This is the first flowering since he acquired it 2 years ago.
