Zsuzsa from Spicesotic Plants gave us an interesting and informative talk about miniature orchids both in pots and on mounts. Many were in flower but you almost needed a magnifying glass to see them, the flowers were so dainty. She explained how some orchids, especially paphiopedilums, respond to using live moss as opposed to dried in the mix. Following the hot summer we’ve just had, Zsuzsa explained how it was more important to dry and cool plants down with fans and ventilation than it is to give extra water because plants will close down when it`s too hot. As usual, she brought along a good selection of plants for sale.

Once again we had a good table display. The previous winners’ table was won by Bill Gardiner`s Dendrochilum magnum, and the novice table by Carol and Tony`s Eulophia euglossa.
