Our meeting on 26-Jun-24 was the Society’s Annual General Meeting, in which the main business was to hear the reports of the Society’s officers and the election or re-election of the Committee. Andy Gissing was presented with both the BOC Cup for the best orchid at the Society’s Spring Show and the David Barton Cup for the best orchid on our stand at the Suffolk Show. The Halliday Cup for exceptional service to the Society was awarded jointly to Angela Exworth-Cook and Aubrey Cook.

After the AGM, we had a ‘plant clinic’ with advice on members’ problem plants, and presentations on plants from the display tables with observations on feeding and light requirements. Members also brought in samples of the water they use for watering their orchids and samples of made-up feed for testing of pH (acidity/alkalinity) and conductivity (level of dissolved salts).

Linda Newson won the ‘Novices’ table with her Phalaenopsis hybrid. Bill Gardiner won the Winners Table with his Miltoniopsis Bel Croute.
